“We are Always Safe in the other Person’s World. ” -Jim Camp
What’s the Value of Market Research?
Market research is important. So immediately, you were taught on how to conduct without even realizing what it is “really” for. This article will show you the value of Market Research in whatever field of business you are in.
Let’ get started.
1. You can connect with your audience through empathy
Empathy is the experience of understanding another person’s thoughts, feelings, and condition from his point of view, rather than from one’s own.
In short, it’s not about you. It’s about them.
It’s not about your product. It’s about their problem and how you can provide a solution.
Your prospects don’t care about your problem. What’s important for your prospects is how to relieve the pain they are going thru.
2. You will be an insider
Have you experience, being in a situation, when you have friends talking about a particular topic you don’t know about?
And ask you what you think about it. Does it make you feel alienated?
Same goes with creating content. Talked to them in such a way they can relate to you. Use the terms and jargons they used.
The goal is to make them feel or realized that you are one of them. That you are on the same status level with them.
3. Safe in their world
People love to talk to the person that understand their pain points. That’s why we choose people who will we share our problems with, right?
In marketing, the goal is to let your prospect know that you have the solution to their problem.
The best way to that is to create the vision.
According to Jim Camp,
“when you are dealing with their vision of pain and real challenges they face, amplify and focus them so they’re very clear, the vision of pain will drive the negotitation to a successful conclusion of ourselves.”
4. Reduce frustration of guesswork + increased confidence
A friend told me, ”When you don’t what to write, you haven’t done enough research.”
Well, I guess it’s true. More often, we write based on what we have experienced. The more personal the topic is, the more we can talk about it.
But what if, having the experience is improbable, like hiking the Mt. Everest. Though you can do it, the question is would you do it? Depending on how big the stake is, you probably won’t.
So what do you do? You do research. You look for previous articles written about the same topic. Or best talk to the person who has gone thru same experience you are looking for.
That way, you don’t have to guess what to talk about. What to write about. Remember, the best way to learn is to learn from others experience.
5. Wide Application (i.e. Sales Materials, Advertising, Landing Page)
When you have done enough your research, you are 80% done.
Why? With that research, you can do anything with it.
Write a blog. Create copy chops. Tell a story. Shoot a video.
Whatever platform you use, the research will help you decide what content will connect to your audience, thus, increasing their attention retention on your offer.
