What if you could discover the work you’re here to do, then spend the rest of your life doing it?

That was the opening line I’ve read upon visiting the website The Good Life Project.

If you don’t know about The Good Life Project, it was originally founded by Jonathan Fields, an entrepreneur, podcaster and author of best-selling books How to Live a Good Life, which became an instant national bestseller and #1 audiobook on Audible and his prior book, Uncertainty: Turning Fear and Doubt Into Fuel For Brilliance, was named #1 Personal Development Book by 800-CEO-READ.

According to his website, at Good Life Project, they “create media, tools, programs, and experiences that help you live a better life, then invite you into our community to find amazing friendships, inspiration, and support. They are on a quest to help you live a more meaningful, connected and vital life.”

I am not a follower of Jonathan Fields so I won’t talk too much anything about him. What I am interested to share is the personality test he architect called the “Sparketype Assessment”.

Sparketype Assessment is a 10-minute assessment test where you will ask to rate yourself from Totally Not Me! To Yes, This is Me!

Here’s a screenshot of the exam.

A soft reminder: Since this a self-assessment exam, GLP remind you “take your time and answer as accurately and honestly as possible. Do not answer in a way that reflects how you “wished” you felt or thought you “should” feel. If you do this, you will likely be assigned a Sparketype that is not accurate, and it will not be helpful in your quest to figure out what you’re here to do.”

Upon answering all the questions, Sparketype will provide you two results that best describes you.

First is the Primary Sparketype.

Primary Spaketype is your life work’s DNA. “it’s the source-code for work that makes you feel like you are doing the thing you were put on the planet to do, fueled by purpose, infused with meaning, fully-expressed and absorbed in that other-worldly, transcendent state of flow.”

Second is the Shadow Sparketype

Shadow Sparketype “reveals the essential nature of work you may well enjoy and have become highly-skilled at. BUT, on a deeper level, you almost always do it in service of doing the work of your Primary Sparketype better. Think of it as your Primary Sparketype amplifier.”

Based on the system, there are 10 Sparketypes.

The Maker the person who lives to turn ideas into reality.

The Scientist the person who lives to solve problems.

The Maven the person who loves learning for its own sake.

The Essentialist the person who feels alive when they create order from chaos.

The Performer — the person who enlivens any interaction.

The Warriorthe person who is driven to organize and lead people.

The Sagethe person who is driven to teach and share wisdom.

The Advocate the person who champions others.

The Adviserthe person who gives guidance.

The Nurturer the person who lives to nurture others.

Here is the result of my assessment. I found out that my Primary Sparketype is The Sage

and The Secondary Sparktype is The Maven.

Final Thoughts

My verdict is that Sparketype Assessment is a fun and refreshing way on how you will discover yourself, on what truly matters to you whether you are getting paid or not. It’s a good thing that we analyze ourselves from time to time, right?

Sure, it will not definitely define 100% of who you are, but it can be a great starting point to find what you want to do with your life.
