No More Weeds

Short Term Pain vs Long Term Gain

One late afternoon, I was bored and had nothing to do.

So I decided to pull out the weeds in our little garden.

"It's been two months since I clean up the mess and now is the best
time to do it." I said to myself.

I put my gloves on and started pulling the weeds.

I was almost half-finished when I felt tired.
My back was aching. My shirt was dripping with sweat.
Then I started to complain."Nah, I'm tired. I can do it later. Maybe tomorrow or when I am in the mood again."

But just before I stood up, a sudden thought came out of my mind.
"Why am I doing this?"
.
..
...
The answer is clear: I want a clean garden.

So I tried to convince myself,"I have to finish this. After this pain, I will see a clean garden."

I continued pulling the weeds.

After less than half an hour, I'm done.

I stood up. Walk from a distance.

I looked back and I saw a clean garden.

*Proud me*

The End.

Moral of the Story

Sometimes when we felt immediate discomfort, we lose sight of our goal. We forget the negative consequences of choosing immediate relief over long-term benefits.

Whenever you feel the urge to give up something important to you, step back and ask yourself, "Why am I doing this in the first place?"
