The short answer is to go back to basics. If you want to make yourself strong enough and beat procrastination, fatigue, and laziness that you never snooze your alarm in the morning, then you will find this advice helpful.

  1. Get enough sleep. People have different sleeping patterns. You have to find out what works for you. Reading “Why We Sleep” by Matthew Walker will give you a better understanding of sleep and its benefits.
  2. Be well-nourished. Food is our fuel. It keeps our engine running. If you are not eating well, your not performing well. Now, there are a lot of food fad diets out there, make sure to consult a doctor or dietician to find out what suits well your goal and body type.
  3. Keep moving. Motivation is a by-product of movement. If you want to beat laziness, you just have to keep moving. Waiting for inspiration is a trap. You must move to be motivated and not the other way around.
  4. Be intentional. You don’t wait for things to happen. You act right now. You don’t just go with the flow. You set the sail to where you want to go. If you don’t, others will set it for you and you can’t expect they will take you where you want to be.
  5. Prepare everything you need before you sleep. Thinking what you will do early morning zaps out your energy. Why not do it, the night before. By doing so, your mind is already set to fire and aim.
  6. Visualize waking up early. This works well when you have done all the advice above. Believing that you can wake up early sets up your brain. Our subconscious mind supports any thoughts we have before we sleep.
  7. Practice, practice, practice. Change does not come overnight. But sure it comes. Do these for 30 days and you will see a significant change in your morning routine.
  8. Track your progress. A small notebook to keep track of your activity will help you gain momentum. Let’s be honest with ourselves. It’s not always a good day. Sometimes you woke up on the wrong side of the bed. There will be a time you’ll feel you’re not making any progress. That’s why it is important to have a log of your small wins to remind yourself that you’re getting near to your goal.

Call to Action

Hope this advice will help you with your goal of waking up early without an alarm. Not only that works in waking up early, but it also works in any habit that you wish to develop. Take it one step at a time. 1% of progress every day will make you 37x better in a year. Always believe, “There is always something about 1%."
