How To Befriend FEAR

Fear is considered a negative emotion. But if you see it on the other side, fear is your other self trying to "protect" you from danger. Fear will tell you, "Don’t do that. You will get hurt." Fear wants you to be alive against the saber-tooth tiger of the modern times.
So how do you befriend fear?
It may be an odd thing to do but you have to tell fear, "I appreciate how you try to protect me. Thank you for the concern. But this time, I want you to trust me and believe in me."
Weird? Of course! But I know, you got what I mean.
